Thursday's class was rather small, so we focused on 7th kyu requirements as that was the next level for those who attended. We reviewed all the Kata, Waza, Taihenjutsu, Dakentaijutsu, etc. for this level. Then we studied the Takagi Waza of Do Gaeshi both kneeling and standing, Kata Mune Dori, and Ryu Mune Dori. I showed where the bodyguard aspect of Takagi Yoshin Ryu come into play and how they effect the nature of the waza. This was a real eye opener and one student said that this one piece of advice made a huge difference in the way he perceived and understood the waza.
